LETTING GO

Do you know that time in the sky
That we can see the sun and moon
And smile because it's a beautiful sight
Even though we know it'll be over soon?

And the time when mothers
Let their children wander around
But never really let go of them
So they can pick them up when on the ground

Well, letting go is one of the most basic acts
That we commit as a human being
It's one of those things that don't come as easy as
Breathing, blinking or seeing

Instead we tie ourselves to those we love
And when they pull to get away
We cut and bruise ourselves
As they pull harder every day

And there are some who choose to let go
Of what they love on their own
Just to feel free sometimes
To show those around them they've grown

Well we probably think it's a selfish act
That letting go shouldn't be as easy
Instead it should be one that causes pain
And makes you feel queasy

But what I say is this
To all those who sit and mourn
Shouldn't letting go be painless
If you never learnt to hold on?

Because the endless pain it causes for us
Isn't something that everyone wants to see
Instead all those souls that cannot hold on
Will let go on their own will, and be free

THE RAIN

Have you ever heard people say
That's when the earth feels no pain
And two people are falling in love
For no reason, it starts to rain

As they hold each other
And share their first kiss
The rain is always there with them
It's the one thing they can't miss

Well it's only because the heavens above
Are filled with angels that spread
All the love they can possibly find
While banishing the hatred

And so I can tell you that
Even the sad love the rain
Just because they're not crying alone
And it washes away the the pain

And so this rain is a blessing in disguise
It gives life to those around
Spreading this essential ingredient
To every living thing found

So you see, its when the goods smile upon us
That even they cry of happiness
And then down comes the rain
Each and everyone of us they bless

And for all those people out there
Who stand and dance in the rain
Just know that the gods always smile upon you
So get ready to do it again

THE SAD LOVE THE RAIN

They talked almost every night

They talked about beauty and grace
The only thing that made them smile
Was seeing the others face

She told him about all her problems
Even the ones where he couldn't help out
And when she was around him
There was not an ounce of self doubt

They made each other feel strong
In the heart and in the head
They each had that feeling
That without the other, they'd rather be dead

And every time they got close
The girl would build another wall
And he'd promise that he'd never hurt her
Catch her after every fall

And slowly the wall was broken down
And he could see her pain
The one which he'd never cause
So he didn't have to see her like that again

And every time he saw her cry
He held her close by his side
But every time, it changed her
Like a part of her had died

And suddenly there was nothing to love
She was all bones and no heart
There was nothing there that was familiar
Not even a single part

And so he did what he promised he wouldn't
He left her and didn't look to see the pain
But she wasn't the only one crying
Outside she could hear the rain

And she realized sad people love the rain
Because they are no longer crying alone
And with that thought in her head
She sat in the corner on her own

THE COLLISION

Well I'm a drop of red
And I'm running down this sheet
And I'm almost at the end
I have cold feet

Behind me I leave a trail
Of my color, like I'm proud
I'm a color that stands out
I'm different in the crowd

But wait! What's that there
It looks like a drop of blue!
I couldn't believe my eyes
It was too good to be true

I could see it screaming
As it came towards its end
It was like me, a drop of paint
But now it was like a friend

And as we got closer
Our eyes finally met
We were almost near our end
It's as close as we could get

And then suddenly the sheet was turned
And I started sliding towards the blue
I knew that this would end bad
An ending like very few

I was the color of royalty!
I couldn't die this way
I wondered what I would become
A dull black or grey

And I sighed and I cried
As I slid towards the blue drop
And trust me I tried my hardest
To put my sliding to a stop

But obviously that didn't happen
And the blue drop and I collided
And I closed my eyes not wanting to see
Anything other than my trail of red

But after some time I opened my eyes
To see a line of purple paint
I couldn't believe my eyes
I was about to faint

It was such a beautiful color!
I had merged with the blue
To become an amazing color
One like so few

And so we slid on
Painting the most beautiful picture
One that would with pride
Be hung on a wall fixture

And I realized that the blue
Brought out the best in me
And that without that blue drop
I wouldn't have reached my true beauty

Sometimes people change you
Only to make you the best
So merge with all the colors you want!
Don't even think about the rest

TO MOMMY DEAREST

Dear mom, here's to all those memories we have. The smiles, the laughs, the tears, everything. It's all as special as you are. I can't emphasize enough on the fact that you are the strongest most beautiful woman I know. The perfect idol. You are my inspiration, my friend, and luckily my mother. I'm glad you are a part of me. I love you mom!

There are so many times I'm feeling down
And you reverse that frown
There are so many times when it's dark
But as soon as you come, you're an igniting spark
But it's not only in hard times that you're there
You always are, to show you care

When everybody else looks for the North Star
I look for you, no matter how far
You are my guiding light
You give me the strength to fight
And on this day kept aside for you
I hope I made it clear, you're like so few

THE PRIDE HAS FALLEN

I've been to the jungle several times
But a lion, I've never seen
But I've heard him roar
Every time I've been

You can hear even if he's miles away
I just always hope and pray
That once I can be the lucky person
To say I had seen you that day

But every time I went
The roar grew weak
Like he was losing energy
And didn't have enough to speak

What was once the most confident roar
That would echo among the trees
Is just a quiet whisper
That needs to be carried by the breeze

What was once a call of warning
Is now a cry for help
That's heard just a few times a day
A small whimpering yelp

And now I pray that no one finds you
So they can't kill your kind
I don't care if I miss seeing you
It's better if you're hard to find

And if you cease to exist
It would be a sad story
One in which the king of the jungle
No more had his pride and glory

And when someone would ask me
What I could do to reverse your fall
I'll say with my head up high that
The human race should not have existed at all

THE BURNING FIRE

She stood erect on stage
Filled with a raging fire
Her heart filled with compassion
To fulfill her desire

She was already half way there
This stage would decide
Whether she could keep loving
The part of her that never died

I've had the privilege
Of seeing this beauty dance
And that's why I hope and pray
That life gives her a chance

I'd call her an elegant beauty
She has personified grace
And when she's dancing all you can see
Is the happiness on her face

"Go to your happy place"
People tell you when you're scared
And hers is on that stage
Where her confidence is flared

You can't take your eyes off her
When she's on that stage
Because that's where she's amazing
And she's dealing with her rage

Sometimes people are just handed
Anything they may need
Making this world a place
Filled with jealousy and greed

But that doesn't apply to her
Because she's a warrior inside
And as soon as her journey begins
It'll be the most amazing ride

She is my inspiration
And she makes it easier than it seems
To successfully conquer a mission
To fulfill your dreams

LOST AND FOUND

It was a stormy day
I was half stuck
On a road filled with water
Driving my red truck

It was amazing what havoc
Mother Nature could cause
Just with one wink of an eye
The world would pause

Well here I sat, bored
Wanting to get home fast
But the latest news was that
We couldn't move till the storm had passed

And then suddenly due to an adrenaline rush
I took the next turn that took me right
And started the adventure of a lifetime
Driving in the forest in the night

And I could see every nocturnal creature
Their eyes glistening bright
The random snap of a twig
The moon was my only light

And I stopped at a waterfall
The water seemed to glow
And the storm had passed
But you could hear the water flow

And right there you could see
Mother Nature at it's best
It seemed to take me to another place
And make me forget the rest

And just like that I was lost
Deep in a jungle, with strange sound
But there was something I had discovered
It was something that I found

I found myself in that peace and quiet
I was absorbed in the beauty and grace
If only we could just make the world
More like this wonderful place
