THE GIRL CHILD, UNCLAIMED

Oh the girl child
She Lay on the bed
Unclaimed. Unnamed.

She just took in her first breath
But there's a chance she may face death
Her first of everything probably her last
She's got no future she's got no past

She spent nine months in a womb
Just like any normal child
She's got a heart beat
Two hands, two feet
Yet she remains unclaimed. Unnamed.

Her life is at the hands of her very creator
Keep or toss?
Does it count as a loss?
Or will they try again hoping for a male
For what is a girl but a fail?
But a temporary source of happiness

Tell me,
In the nine months she was in your womb
Did you not learn to love her little heart?
Or did the nine months make it easier to part?
Was she not your dream?
Well she's got your genes,
She's the product of a woman

I have just one question for you
When you, her mother, were spared from the knife
How dare you take your daughters life?

Just a reminder.
She's still unclaimed. She's still unnamed.

HEART PALPITATIONS

You're telling yourself that you're okay
But your body is saying the opposite
You want to believe you're strong
But your body goes on to prove you wrong

You're anxious.
You're facing fear
Like never before

You're vision suddenly bails on you
You've had moments like these so few
The world seems to all be at your feet
And the wind in your lungs escapes like a fleet

Your heart is racing
Making record time
You're out of breath, you're out of words
You've become nothing more than a mime

And you're trying to calm yourself down
Telling your heart that it'll be okay
But your mind seems to be going the other way

And the suddenly
The blood comes rushing in
Your vision becomes clear
You think you've overcome your fear
And you're reborn again

Reborn with a new fear
One that could conquer your mind
Trying to find the peace, the calm
But it seems too hard to find
