THE BURNING FIRE

She stood erect on stage
Filled with a raging fire
Her heart filled with compassion
To fulfill her desire

She was already half way there
This stage would decide
Whether she could keep loving
The part of her that never died

I've had the privilege
Of seeing this beauty dance
And that's why I hope and pray
That life gives her a chance

I'd call her an elegant beauty
She has personified grace
And when she's dancing all you can see
Is the happiness on her face

"Go to your happy place"
People tell you when you're scared
And hers is on that stage
Where her confidence is flared

You can't take your eyes off her
When she's on that stage
Because that's where she's amazing
And she's dealing with her rage

Sometimes people are just handed
Anything they may need
Making this world a place
Filled with jealousy and greed

But that doesn't apply to her
Because she's a warrior inside
And as soon as her journey begins
It'll be the most amazing ride

She is my inspiration
And she makes it easier than it seems
To successfully conquer a mission
To fulfill your dreams

LOST AND FOUND

It was a stormy day
I was half stuck
On a road filled with water
Driving my red truck

It was amazing what havoc
Mother Nature could cause
Just with one wink of an eye
The world would pause

Well here I sat, bored
Wanting to get home fast
But the latest news was that
We couldn't move till the storm had passed

And then suddenly due to an adrenaline rush
I took the next turn that took me right
And started the adventure of a lifetime
Driving in the forest in the night

And I could see every nocturnal creature
Their eyes glistening bright
The random snap of a twig
The moon was my only light

And I stopped at a waterfall
The water seemed to glow
And the storm had passed
But you could hear the water flow

And right there you could see
Mother Nature at it's best
It seemed to take me to another place
And make me forget the rest

And just like that I was lost
Deep in a jungle, with strange sound
But there was something I had discovered
It was something that I found

I found myself in that peace and quiet
I was absorbed in the beauty and grace
If only we could just make the world
More like this wonderful place

THE KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR

As he rode on the palace wall
One hand on his sword
The other waiting to command
An entire army on his word

The enemy was getting closer
And even though they were prepared
Their hands shivered throughout the wait
But somewhere inside the confidence flared

And the battle horn was blown
And the forces started to flee
He realized this might be the last time
That he was a man that was free

But that didn't scare him at all
In fact he was happy to fight
And protect what meant the most to him
And try with all his might

And so they charged forward
That was the only way for this warrior
He had only one mission in mind
Their enemies they had to conquer

And he led an entire army
Horses elephants and all
While the only sound in the background
Was the fierce battle call

And they fought with pride and honor
They killed relentlessly
And the thought suddenly occurred to him
This may not be the last time he's free

But then suddenly there was a sword
Half way through his chest
And all he felt like doing
Was to close his eyes and rest

He'd enter a sleep called death
One from which he'd never arise
But all he could think about was
Whether they'd win the war if he dies

And with that thought
Inside a fire burned
But none of the other warriors knew
And all they could do was mourn

They mourned the loss of a man
That personified the great
And they wondered how such a noble man
Could die with such bad fate

But he suddenly arose
And with a warriors shout
Slew the enemies king
Till of death, there was no doubt

But two hearts stopped beating that moment
Both were of men with great heart
And their loss was mourned through every kingdom
Each now missing their special part

But he died with sword in hand
He died conquering the enemy
He may not exist on the planet
But his soul was now free

Forever to stay on that land
Where he had made his mark
And whenever his kingdom was in trouble
He would be that light in the dark

And of him stories would be told
Of the man that rose from the dead
Only to so fiercely
Slay the enemies kings head

And statues would be erected
In every corner you can find
Even songs would be sung
About this man who was one of a kind

FADED

My life is a book
I write with just pencil
And as it goes on
The pages slowly fill

The mistakes are erased away
But they leave behind traces
Every experience is accounted for
Including the names and faces

But some just leave so fast
That I can't record them in my book
It's like they disappeared
After just one tiny look

And so I half describe them
Half imagine them in my head
Wondering why they disappeared
And if it was something that I said

But then I realized,
It was the pencil in my hand
They wanted to be washed away
Like writings in the sand

They faded away like time
They evaporated like water from the sea
Maybe they don't play a part in my book
It just isn't meant to be

And so these invisible beings
They leave the memories in your head
The ones you usually think about
When your laying in your bed

And soon they cease to exist
But what more can I say
That they meant to be like that
They meant to fade away

THE DREAM CATHCER

It lay hanging from the window
That was it's permanent place
It was a symbol of beauty
Of hope, love and grace

It shone brightly only in the night
Where it would protect those who sleep
And take away those bad thoughts
That would make people weep

It would provide hope, in the form of dreams
It would replace the dark with the light
And make people dream
Of a future that was bright

It's not just an item with feathers on it
It's a collection of probably anything that's true to you
Because you dream of what you love
And it's there no matter what you do

But it need not be this item that's your dream catcher
It could be a person too
One that makes you feel warm
And holds a special place to you

That person could fight the dark with the light
And make things just seem a bit more bright
And take care of you like you're the only one alive
For you, always ready to fight

So whichever it is, hold on close
Because you don't want to lose your dreams
They will protect it, so you protect them
Trust me, it's easier than it seems

THE NEED TO SPEAK

She could never fall asleep
She'd try with all her might
But she'd cry herself to sleep
Each and every night

It was not for a specific reason,
It was just meant to be
That she was a caged bird
Never to be set free

Her thoughts would haunt her
Like a shadow always by her side
And even if she didn't acknowledge it...
It was powered by the tears she cried

She was silent, like the night
Not a word to be said
It's almost like she didn't exist
Like to others she was dead

She wasn't allowed to speak a word
Her opinions over ruled
Every thought, every feeling
In her head they pooled

There was an invisible tape on her mouth
That prevented her from saying a thing
And she silently sat as witness
To each and everything

But there was a feeling
Sort of like a void in her heart
She knew if she filled it up
She wouldn't ever fall apart

I'll tell you what it was
It was the need to speak
For herself and those she loved
To portray that she wasn't weak

It was the need to sleep
Without her thoughts pricking her mind
It was the need to express
Every feeling she could find

And so she found someone
With whom her secrets she'd share
Someone who was by her side, another shadow
Someone who would show her love and care

She didn't believe in dream catchers
But when she slept next to that special heart
Her nightmares vanished like fog in the night
And her heart was then a complete part.

THE TRAVELLER

I packed my things
I wore my favorite coat
I couldn't say a thing
There was a lump in my throat

My bag, or bags, I should say
Waited by the door outside
And my cheeks were tear stained
Like I had just cried

My parents, my family
They were there, holding it back
I knew it would just take one word
For them, too, to crack

You see, I was going away
I had no choice to be honest
I had to take this decision
I had to do what was best

I would soon say goodbye
The hugs would remain in my heart
And the day would be remembered
As they day we did part

There would be crying, there would be tears
Words of advice, words of concern
They would tell me they love me and believe in me
And with this my fire would burn

I was soon to be a traveller
I would roam the streets of the world
All on my own
I was just a small girl

I would ask the help of strangers
Stay in rooms that were cheap
Trust in myself to do best
And in faith, take a leap

There would be those late night phone calls
Because of the difference in time
And I would work different jobs
To earn every possible dime

My passport, the most interesting book
Each page was a new journey
Each place, a unique experience
creating the best memories

And those who didn't travel
Just one page they read
And this is the most true thing
That anyone has ever said

And you live on to tell your story
Those memories that swim in your head
About how the world was a book
And about all the pages you read

You will cry sometimes, but smile a lot more
And to live your life, people will try
And then you know it's worth it
To just let go and say good bye
