LOST WINGS, GAINED HOPE

She took off my halo
And gave me a book
She trimmed my feathers
Cut my wings
And gave me legs instead
I asked her what to do with them
And she said run
And so I ran...away
I ran from the place I'd call hell
Looking for a place called heaven
Little did I know, it was not on earth
I ran, till I reached the end of the road
And wondering what to do
I looked below to find I was on a cliff
And even though the question was in my mind
The reply came from the heavens above
Fly.
But how was I supposed to?
When all life gave me was wings
And all I could do with them was fly
What was the point in cutting them off
And then asking me to try?
And so I screamed to the heavens above
That all's fair in war and love
And right after that they sent down rain
Like it was supposed to wash away my pain
But after the storm, after the wreck
After the chaotic sky
Out came a rainbow
Like a passerby
And just as I had lost hope
Just as my flame was about to die
The heavens above whispered something again
They told me to believe I can fly...
