THE CONCRETE JUNGLE

   I woke on a footpath
The hard concrete under my body
   The sunlight was creeping in...
I opened my eyes and saw that I was in a jungle
   A concrete jungle.
   The buildings towered over me
I felt like a caged bird, never to be free
And while I searched for just a sign of life
   I found none
   Not even one
And I felt like a prisoner who forgot
To escape on the only boat we found
And so I sat on the ground
   And stared into blank space
Wondering if this was the end of the human race
   I got into a building
And I locked out the day light
   And created an artificial night
Might as well, seeing that everything around
Ruined Mother Nature, the ruler of our sacred ground
I thought about when I could see the blue sky
But that's a time that's already gone by
I thought about a time when grass was green
And a dull gray wasn't the only color seen
When the wind would play with my hair
And we wouldn't fight for clean air
But hey! We've had our chance of fun
And now that time is done
For we ruined what we got from the earth
We took our mothers last breath...
And that lead to her death.
