BROKEN

"I love you"
She uttered the words
from those beautiful lips
I wanted to hear it
Again and again,
Like a tape recorder on replay
But thoughts occurred to me...
She never looked me while saying it,
She never smiled
I couldn't see it in her eyes
That sparkle that's there in mine
When I hear her name
It was missing from her eyes
Almost like she gave those stars to the skies
I'd like to think it was to light up my night
But somehow, it doesn't seem bright
For those words...
They were broken
They were a broken promise
Made to an insecure soul like me
How was I to let myself free?
I'm surrounded by things...broken
Broken promises, broken words
Broken smiles, broken hearts
Just a lot of broken parts...
And I don't know how to fix it.
These were made on the grounds that
They'd fix someone, something, anything!
But when I think about it...
They're the ones tearing things apart
They're the ones breaking hearts
And so I lie here,
trying to put these pieces back together
But I guess they don't fit.
So I lie here, broken.
